Best bull men
Someone asked me who are the best bull handlers and trainers, and I asked some industry insiders. Here's the list, in no particular order, that they came up with. If you follow mostly the riders, you may not have heard of these names. If you follow the bull owners and haulers, you will have heard of some. If you follow bloodlines and pedigrees, you will have heard of many.
Bob Wilfong, Jackie Ratjen, Dale Lyons, Kent Cox, Jerry Hargis, Derrel Hargis, Brad Fudge, Jimmy Crowther, Don Kish, Dean Wilson, Roy Carter, Julio Moreno, Joe Berger, Alex Naccarato, H.D. Page, David Baily, Hal Burns, Lyndal Hurst, David Bailey, Hal Burns, Vernon Guidry, Ronnie Roach, Andy Vela, Alvin Jones, Trent West, Casey Cox, Monty Samford, Rod Conat, Pat Goodwine
More than you thought you'd get, right? I'll keep updating this as names come in. (And thanks to the people who helped make this list. On my own I would have come up with maybe half of them.)
Answer to a horn question
A typical horn is a hard shell covering a bony core that is attached to the bull's skull. There are also things called scurs, which are not attached to the skull. Usually these look like horns, but they tend to be very short. Sometimes scurs are no more than little bumps where horns would be. My sources tell me that they can also be down-turned, or "banana" horns, which are also not attached to the skull.
