Who's Your Daddy? Classic Edition

We get a Classic event along with our PBR this weekend and it's always interesting to see how the young bulls do and guess which ones are destined for greatness.

Here's a little pedigree information on some of Pueblo's bulls, some Classic, some not:

I'll say here  - and most of you already know this, but for those who don't - anything with Houdini in it goes back to White Sports Coat and CP 6.  So I won't say that every time.

• 0-1 Bono is a Houdini son.  On the dam side he is a grandson of Kish's Wolfman and Farris 51.  (Hadley Cattle Co.)  Classic

• 250 Black Pearl is a Houdini son.  His dam is SJR 49.  She is by Whitewater out of Ravenscroft Breeding.  (Boyd/Floyd/Ravenscroft)

• 563 Heebee Geebee is by Kish's Winchester out of 841 Kish's Bull Bait.  He is a grandson of Mr. T on the sire side.  On the dam side he is Kish breeding.  (Boyd/Floyd)

• 211 Iron Horse is a son of Western Hauler and a Hobo grandson.  On the dam side his grandsire is Naccarato's Oscars Velvet.  (Do or Die Pro Rodeo)

Now this next part gets interesting and tells you something about Page breeding.  These are all D&H bulls.

• 13T Little Snake is a son of Mossy Oak Mudslinger (who is a son of Page 01 and Page cow 590-228 (and she is a Broke Back V daughter)).  His dam is Page 302-496, who is a Hotel California daughter out of a Diamond S cow.  Hotel California is an A6 son. 

• 20T Train Wreck is a Crazy Train son out of Page 25-140.  On the sire side he is a grandson of Boding (who is a Broke Back V son) and Page cow 47-107 (who is a Copperhead daughter).  On the dam side he is a grandson of Mossy Oak Mudslinger and Page 25-124 (a Broke Back V daughter).  Classic.

• 58T Flying Train is also a Crazy Train son.  His dam is Page 325-478.  So on the sire side he, too, is a grandson of Boding and Page cow 47-107.  On the dam side he, too, is a grandson of Page cow 25-124. The grandsire on the dam side is Hotel California.  Classic.

• TD2 Bucking Machine is a son of Sports Machine (AKA Milkman) and Page 3D2-490.  He is a grandson of Washita Jr. on the sire side.  On the dam side he is a Hotel California grandson.  Classic.

So these four bulls are full of Crazy Train, Hotel California, and Mudslinger, with a bunch of Broke Back V in the background.  The two young Trains have the same sire, and on the dam side they have the same granddam. 

• 717 Hannibal is a son of Shyster and a grandson of Kish's Wolfman and Kish breeding on the sire side.  On the dam side he is a grandson of Kish's Velvet Hour and Kish cow 609.  (Robinson)

• 703 Ranger Pride is a son of Raspberry Wine.  On the sire side that makes him a grandson of Spook and Rafter 7R 36.  On the dam side he is a Houdini grandson.  (Gary Long)  Classic.

• A712 Pit Boss is a son of Blenderhead.  On the dam side he is a Houdini grandson.  (Ace of Spades)  Classic.

• 789 Bad Blake is a son of Tahanta and MO 135.  His dam is by Whitewater out of MO 76.  (Lightning C)  (MO is Rosser / Moreno)  Classic.

Who's Your Momma?

I've been doing "Who's Your Daddy" for the past couple of weeks and now here's a little bit from the dam side of the equation.

Talking about dams is harder than talking about sires because a lot of them don't have names, and even if they did, most people wouldn't recognize them.  So Page 590-228 has no reference point for us until we know that she is a Broke Back V daughter and the dam to Mossy Oak Mudslinger. Oh yeah.  That's who she is.   

So here's a little info on some of the cows and where they fit in the lineage.  The cow's name/number is in parentheses after the name of her son.

• A Whitewater daughter is dam to Black Pearl. (SJR 49)

• A Whitewater daughter is dam to Bones. (TBB AS 13)

• A Whitewater daughter is dam to Bad Blake. (MO 135)  

• A Broke Back V daughter is dam to Amy's Pet (Vickers W8) 

• Broke Back V daughter is dam to Mossy Oak Mudslinger (Page 590-228)

• An A6 daughter is dam to Crossfire Hurricane (Page 755-113)

• An A6 daughter is dam to Chance.  (Page 718)

• A Naccarato's Oscars Velvet daughter is dam to 211 Iron Horse (GRC W80) 

• A Naccarato's Oscars Velvet daughter is dam to Reindeer.   (AN 11)

• A Kish's Lock and Load daughter is dam to Priceless.  (TBB K327)

• A Kish's Velvet Hour daughter is dam to Rusty Zipper.  (TBB K351)

• A Kish's Wolfman daughter is dam to Braveheart. (Zena )

• A Moody Blues daughter is dam to Grey Squirrel.  (JC 335)

• A Houdini daughter is dam to I'm a Gangster.  (High X23 Boo Hoo)

• A Roughwater daughter is dam to Silver Wings.  (Page 136-117)

• A Bodacious daughter is dam to Say When. (Bow Tilly)

• A Skat Kat daughter is dam to Charlie Bullware.   (Butlers Kat Ballou)

• A Skat Kat daughter is dam to Hank.  (Diamond S SA 110)

• Hargis 935 is dam to Blueberry Wine. 

• A Gunslinger daughter is dam to El Presidente.  (Hargis 591)

• A Mossy Oak Mudslinger daughter is dam to Train Wreck.  (Page 25-140)

There are other ways to talk about dams, using information from the ABBI's Production Dams by Competition Stats.  It might also be useful to have a complete list of the bulls that have produced daughters that have produced successful sons.  But that's light years beyond my pay-grade. 

Who's Your Daddy, Part Two

If you are a bucking bull (we know you are not) and your sire is a superstar, you still have to make your own fate.  But if you buck, people will want to know who your daddy is, and certain names show up quite a bit.

Here are a few lineage facts on some of the bulls appearing in the Last Cowboy Standing event this weekend.

• Braveheart is an Oscars Velvet son and on the dam side he is a Kish's Wolfman grandson.  

• Charlie Bullware and Hank are both Skat Kat grandsons on the dam side.  Charlie Bullware is a Whitewater son.  Hank is a Yellow Jacket son.  

• Both Heebee Geebee and Little Mr. T are sons of Kish's Winchester and therefore grandsons of Mr. T.

• MacNett's El Presidente is a Moody Blues son and a Gunslinger grandson on the dam side.

• Train Wreck is a Crazy Train son and on the dam side is a Mudslinger grandson.

• Red Hot is a Crossfire Hurricane son.

• RMEF Bugle is a Yellow Jacket grandson on the sire side.

• Black Pearl is a Houdini son.  His dam is SJR 49, a Whitewater daughter, recently sold at auction for $100,000.

• Priceless is a Best Shot son with Houdini on the sire side and Kish's Lock & Load on the dam side.

• Rusty Zipper is a Hotel California son and a Kish's Velvet Hour grandson on the dam side.

• The Situation is a son of Hot Damn, who is also the sire of Amy's Pet, one of the highest-scoring bull in Tampa last weekend, and Cody Ohl's Damn Right, seen in Kansas City's Classic.   

There's so much of this, you could get lost in it for years.

PBR Tampa: Who's Your Daddy?

We all know that in the realm of bucking bulls it doesn't necessarily matter who your daddy is, because for every successful Houdini son, there will be dozens who don't make it, and there will also be bulls that come out of the blue and into the limelight, with no pedigree to brag about at all.  

That said, here are a few lineage facts on some of this weekend's bulls:

• Very Smart Remedy is a Gunslinger grandson.  (And was once known as Redbone.) 

• Muddy Chicken is a MudFlap son and Mossy Oak Mudslinger grandson. (Thus the mud.)

• RMEF Gunpowder & Lead is a son of Yellow Jacket Jr.

• Chicken on a Chain's daddy was a bull named Scar, his mother is out of Mark Hart breeding.  Beyond that, nothing listed.

• I'm a Gangster is a Houdini grandson on the dam side.

• Chance is a Copper Top son, and an A6 grandson on both the dam and sire side.

• Ronnie Rooster is a Rooster son.  Rooster was a White Sports Coat and CP1 Kung Fu son and a full brother to Panhandle slim.

• Also in the house this weekend is I'm Back, one of the Panhandle Slim clones.  Some would say that he is a White Sports Coat / CP1 Kung Fu son, too, in spite of his bio-genetic detour through the cloning lab.

It's a big old family tree out there in the bucking bull kingdom, and there's proven royalty in it as well as random genetic chance.  And now there's the petri dish, too.   Fun stuff.
