D&H Cattle Company Bred to Buck Sale

On Sunday I watched the D&H Cattle Company "Bred to Buck Bull and Female Sale" on Live Auctions TV, and it was a new experience in the bucking bull industry for me. For those of you who don't know, D&H Cattle Company is a six-time PBR Stock Contractor of the Year. Their bulls are amazing and include Crosswired, Silver Wings, and Commotion, just to name a few who've been getting a lot of attention in the PBR lately. They were also the breeders and owners of the legendary Mossy Oak Mudslinger, Crossfire Hurricane, and Hotel California.

Here are some of the biggest sales:

Lot 4: Page 32W. A 50% interest in this yearling bull sold for $15,000. Sired by Showtime.

Lot 9: Page W10. Another 50% interest in a yearling bull sired by Crazy Train. $14,000.

Lot 99: Page 16-132. A Copperhead daughter, pictured above, that has been exposed to Bad Cat and Party Time, with a 2 month old bull calf sired by Showtime. $37,000. Though, like many breeders, the Pages don't name most of their females, they called this one "Rank Bitch" - which I think is pretty funny and it definitely gives you an idea of her personality and what fire she might pass on to her offspring.

Lot 63: Page 202-259. A Mossy Oak Mudslinger daughter, exposed to Savage Shaker. $26,000.

On the other hand, there also were a lot of great yearling bulls and cow/calf pairs to be had for under $10,000. When you see that you can acquire a quality pair for a reasonable price from one of the best breeders in the country...well, there was a minute there where I was tempted.
