The World Finals kicked off in a grand fashion with the three and four year old Classic bulls comprising most of the Round One bull pen. I always enjoy watching the young bulls and last night they did not disappoint. Bushwacker was, of course, the most touted bull in the pen, and he was good, but the moon was full here on the east coast and the bull called Moon was bright as well, outshining, in my opinion, the favored son. Other Classic bulls of note were Pure Smoke, Priceless, and Pit Boss. The veteran MoBandy.com made a monster ride for the high bull score of the night (45.50). The young bulls created a lot of ruckus in the chutes, which I'm told is a combination of youth and inexperience and the high pitch of the event in general. It was a really good evening of bull riding.
The high points? Austin Meier on Elk Country (video below). Renato Nunes getting a ride on Pit Boss. The smile on Silvano Alves' face when he rode his first World Finals bull, More Bucks. The other spectacular Classic bulls mentioned above.
Low points? J.B. Mauney on Train Wreck (video below).
